How is a clan different from a family? Rather obviously, a clan is bigger than a family. Secondly, family members are related by blood. Clan members are related by the fact that they are very similar in thought and feelings. There are instances when you feel a sense of bonding with a friend that is more intense than the feeling you get when you are with your elder brother. This is the basis of a clan. Not all your family members will become a part of your clan, right?

Olympic tips for Londoners

I understand that the Olympics happen to be a very big deal as far as sporting enthusiasts are concerned. Personally, I do not bother about any sport other than football because that works best for me. I do not even follow cricket but I like it when the English cricket team wins multi nation tournaments, something that does not happen very often. Yet, I have absolutely nothing against the Olympics and I am all for the event being harnessed properly.

If it is being done, it might as well be done properly. So, there are some tips that I give to members of my clan to ensure that they do not give any trouble to the Olympics and they do not suffer any trouble because of the Olympics. Firstly, drive carefully. We are going to get a million individuals from different countries and not all of them may be aware of the fact that cars in England drive on a different side of the road as compared to their hometown. Of course, it is obvious that the person working on the street will have take care of this point but nobody will blame an injured individual when he or she is knocked down by a car.

It is natural tendency to blame the machine and the person behind the machine. The fact that individual happens to be a foreigner is only going to complicate matters. We do not want to be classified as ungracious and rude hosts, right? So, the best option is to drive carefully so that you do not hit any pedestrian who has started crossing the road without realizing where he or she should be looking.

Next, make sure you give your employees the freedom to enjoy the Olympics. It does not mean you should shut down your business or service until the Olympics end. However, not behave like Scrooge and insist on 100% attendance at all times. Instead, you would do well to make use of the Olympics as a human resource trick and conduct team building exercise. Just ask all your employees to visit an event together and ask them to speak a few words on the experience. Use this wonderful team building tip and witness an increase your employees morale.

Teachers do not need any advice on how they should handle students because they probably are used to the absence of students during such sporting events. In any case, there is nothing wrong in bunking class for a day or two because attending the Olympics is obviously more important than attending behaviour management courses. Of course, it is ironic that most degrees, like the Olympics, are offered after a gap of four years. Hence, you would do well to tell your students that they cannot afford to ignore the degree just because of the event. Yet, you should be prepared for an increase in absenteeism.

Finally, you would do well to earn more money and pay more tax because this Olympics is definitely going to leave a strain on public finances. The economy of the country is not doing well and you would do well to earn more money and pay taxes so that the country can recover from the financial strain as early as possible.

Sorting the London Underground out: a huge task…but there are benefits

I love London, the Big Smoke, whatever you want to call our great capital. I love how everything you could ever need is there, and how you can take a tube ride and go from the most ultra-modern architecture to some of the oldest buildings in the world. But what I don’t like about London is the Underground: built many, many years ago, the infrastructure just isn’t built or prepared for the massive volume of people that now go through it every single day. Quite simply, taking a ride on the Underground in some places is painful, sweaty and nasty.

Sitting on the tube, you’ll be exposed to all kinds of crazy-cat hair-dos that’ll really blow your mind…

That said, there are a few advantages of taking a ride on the tube, and they are as follows:

1) You really get to sweat it out: think about it, who needs proform treadmills and top-end gym equipment? In the tube all you have to do is sit there and it’s like being in a sauna. Granted, it’s more expensive than most saunas, but at the same time, how many do you know that actually move you from place to place?

2) You get to people watch on a grand scale that really livens your day up. Why not listen to the businessman who is angry at his PA? Or get a tuition in martial arts from the man at the end who is speaking, very loudly, about how to take an opponent of great size down? All the information you could ever need is right there, you know, all you have to do is wait long enough and it’ll come to you.

3) Get an idea for a cool new haircut, why not? In London, every kind of haircut is available to look at. Sitting on the tube, you’ll be exposed to all kinds of crazy-cat hair-dos that’ll really blow your mind and make you feel like anything is possible!

London Olympics- why exactly must London host it?

I cannot understand the logic of hosting the Olympic Games in London. How is London going to benefit from the Olympics? There was a time when London was the biggest city in the world. It occupied the same position as New York occupies today. It also happens to be the capital of the country and is the place where the government of the country functions and operates from. In such a scenario, does it really need Olympic Games?

There are many persons who criticize these games because of the expenditure involved in development of infrastructure. Well, I am completely in favor of development of infrastructure. However, the only thing that I demand is that infrastructure development should take place in a sensible and rational manner. Just ask anybody who has visited London and they will tell you that the city is definitely not in need of infrastructure development worth billions of dollars. A certain level of upgrades and maintenance may be required but you don’t have to hold an Olympic Games for that, right?

Further, the organization of the games is only going to lead to complications considering the security situation today. The best option is to find a magician London and appoint him or her as the person in charge of security. It is one to be a small miracle if the Olympic Games are held successfully without any security complications. Of course, the average resident of London can be completely forgiven for inquiring about the need to take such a big risk considering the fluid security situation.

Which was the last Olympic Games to earn a profit? China can be discounted because one does not know what really happened there in terms of money spent and earned. I still feel that the Los Angeles Olympics held more than 25 years ago was the last profitable venture. Will London succeeded in earning a profit out of these games?
